The Office of Whitworth Design is a professional building design firm located in Roseburg, Oregon. We offer a unique range of services and a fresh and creative approach to the design of residences and commercial structures.

Whitworth Design formed in the autumn of 1991. We were located in Los Angeles, California and Ashland, Oregon for about a year before settling in Roseburg. We feel that we can have a more measureable positive influence when being a part of a smaller community, such as Roseburg. Having lived and traveled in several states and other countries, gives us a wealth of different ideas to store in our memory banks. These experiences are of different uses of materials, other traditional and modern styles and alternate methods of building. It is our intention to introduce Roseburg to some of these ideas.

Paul Whitworth is not merely a draftsman. He spent six years at three different design schools learning about how to create an interaction between design and people so that the affect is a positive experience. With his education, Paul considers himself much more than just a draftsman. Architecture is the goal, not just drafting up a set of plans.

Whitworth Design strives to provide clients with progressive, creative, well-built and relevant projects. We believe strongly in the importance of the interrelationship of architecture and the physical building site. We are committed to the idea that buildings should be conceived with the site in mind. Every project has a specific site and every site should have a specific structure.

We want to offer something unique. Why throw up the same generic looking house with a poor design? Is the magazine rack at the grocery store the best place to get a house deisgn? We do not make houses, we create "homes". This is where a family "lives", not just a place that provides shelter. You cannot build a quality structure without a quality design to start from. A good design will probably even lower your building costs by utilizing materials more wisely.

Client involvement, in all phases of the design process, is encouraged. There is no preconceived style that exists in this office. The building can be modern, traditional or something in between. We will help you to decide what you really want and need. We appreciate the client's scheduling and budgeting requirements, and recognize the delicate balance between the value that quality design can create and bottom-line economic return. Our objective is simple: help each client reach their goal, the implementation of a successful project.
